In compiling a guide to forthcoming alignments till the end of the year we decided to choose a spreadsheet format.

Alignments frequently overlap and we felt the best way of depicting the various over lapping conjunctions and oppositions was in a
tabular form. This is both swift and easy to use and offers the best way of appreciating which alignments are current at any one time. The notation we use is explained below and on the page itself to
help you navigate the page as easily as possible. Below is a brief explanation of the annotation used:
The following i.e. Venus/Mars means that Mars and Venus are in direct alignment or conjunction.
The following i.e. Venus-Mars means the planets are in alignment but in opposition, with the Earth in the middle between them.
The following i.e. Venus/Mars-Jupiter would mean that Venus and Mars are in alignment but in opposition to Jupiter with the Earth in
between them.
By alignment is meant a separation of around 8 degrees or less. Some of the alignments were long lasting but the dates when they were in
very close alignment are outlined in yellow.
